Liverpool are being linked with a shock move for West Ham United midfielder Yossi Benayoun.
The Israeli international was instrumental in guiding the Hammers to the FA Cup Final last season, and is seen as a key man in manager Alan Pardew's side.

The 26-year-old, who can play in the middle or on the right, is believed to have caught the eye of Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez.
However, Benayoun signed a long term deal last summer from Racing Santander and it seems highly unlikely that West Ham would allow the player to leave Upton Park.

The diminutive schemer made 34 appearances last term for the Hammers - scoring five goals, and was previously linked with a move to Anfield when Gerard Houllier was in charge.

C'est un bon joueur mais je ne sais pa non plus si il a les epaules assez lrges pour jouer les 1ere places de la PL ou la CL...

quitte a prendre un gars de west ham j'aurais préféré qu'on s'interresse a reo crocker un gars super talentueux.

Et moi à Dean Ashton, qui aurait bien rendu service à l'équipe d'Angleterre s'il avait été au mondial.

+1 reo crocker ashton ferdinand une belle equipe de jeune pousse ces hammers(comme un peu toujours d'ailleurs.)

Et imagine s'ils avaient gardé les jeunes formés au club: Lampard, J.Cole, R.Ferdinand, Defoe.....

c'es clair c'est meme la ou je voulais en venir.ils ont vraiment une academy exceptionnelle.

West Ham midfielder Yossi Benayoun has been linked with a surprise move to Liverpool.

The 26-year-old was undoubtedly one of the stars of The Hammers' strong campaign last season, but he has been quoted as saying that The Reds are interesting in snapping him up.

Although Benayoun revealed that no formal offer has been made, he admits that a switch to Anfield would be an appealing proposition for any player.

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season and the Israeli is believed to have caught his eye.

"Liverpool are interested in me," Benayoun told homeland newspaper Haaretz.

"Of course it's very flattering but there still has not been an official approach."

Benayoun is sure to be central to West Ham boss Alan Pardew's plans and would be extremely difficult to prise away from Upton Park.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have confirmed their first three pre-season opponents.

They will play Kaiserslautern in Liechtenstein on July 29, before facing Grasshopper Zurich on August 1 and Mainz four days later
