Carra into the LFC Top 25
The reds’ current longest serving player is set to enter the club’s all-time Top 25 for number of games played, assuming he turns out at Everton on Wednesday evening. This will be his 390th game for Liverpool – 45 ahead of his nearest current challenger, his central defensive partner Sami Hyypiä.
Jamie’s 389 games to date include 270 in the Premiership, eighteen in the FA Cup, 22 in the League Cup, 76 in European competition and two in the recent World Club Championship, with the remaining game being the FA Charity Shield in August 2001. In all that time he has bagged just three goals.
Carra’s 390th game will draw him level with Tommy ‘The Flying Pig’ Lawrence in 25th place in the club’s all-time appearance ranking. This legendary keeper won two League title medals with the reds and was also a member of the 1965 FA Cup winning side.
It will take a further 35 reds games before the 27-year old can break into the club’s all-time Top 20 appearance holders, and he would then still be more than 400 games behind Ian Callaghan, who is likely to forever remain the Liverpool player who tops the appearance charts.
