LIVERPOOL are bidding to sign Southampton's England new boy Peter Crouch.

Rafa Benitez has already begun his move for Crouch - just days after Saints were relegated - and wants to tie up a £5million deal for the 6ft 7in target man.

Benitez admits he needs more physical presence in his front line.

Crouch, just called up by Sven Goran Eriksson, will leap at the chance to swap the Championship for Liverpool despite Saints chief Harry Redknapp's wish to hang on to him.
