LAY OFF NEV
By Darren Lewis
STEVEN GERRARD has pleaded with Liverpool fans not to wreck England's friendly against Uruguay tonight by continuing their bitter feud with Gary Neville.
Neville reignited the bad blood between himself and the Reds faithful at Old Trafford last month when Manchester United beat Liverpool 1-0 with a late Rio Ferdinand goal.
The England right-back then ran 60 yards to infuriate Liverpool's supporters with an over-the-top celebration for which he was fined £5,000 by the FA.
Neville, who was barracked by the Kop during Liverpool's 1-0 FA Cup win last month, is appealing the punishment.
But Gerrard last night urged: "I hope and I am sure the Liverpool supporters will get behind Gary Neville and give him their support. It's not Liverpool now, it's England.
"It will be a lot different to a Liverpool v Manchester United game. Liverpool fans build themselves up for that one days and weeks before."
