DUO TO STEP UP CESAR CHASE

Reports in Spain claim that Newcastle and Liverpool will step up their attempts to land Deportivo La Coruna defender Cesar in the summer.
The centre back has 18 months left on his current deal at Depor, but talks over extending it have failed to materialise.
It is now believed that the Primera outfit are ready to cash in on the Spanish international in the summer given the interest from The Premiership.
Newcastle were linked with the powerful 27-year-old during the January transfer window, and were reported to have submitted a £5 million offer for the player.
Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is well aware of the player's rugged qualities that would suit life in England having come up against him during his time with Valencia.
Intriguingly, Tottenham are also claimed to be monitoring his situation, despite having recently invested big money in Nottingham Forest's Michael Dawson.
Cesar stated back in December that he was flattered by interest from England but insisted staying with Depor remained his priority.
However, with the Galician club now pondering his sale to help fund an overhaul of their squad in the summer, he could well get the opportunity to test himself at Premiership level next season.
