Daniel Agger has been linked with Liverpool since in the summer and the media have speculated upon if Liverpool will make a bid for the Danish defender in January, who could cost around 4,5 million pounds. Agger can play at centre-half and left-back and made his international debut earlier this year. He signed a three year deal with Brøndby on the 1st of July and has time on his side as he will be 21 in December.

Agger made his debut on 25th of July last year in a league match vs. OB Odense. He got his big break earlier than expected because Brøndby's experienced centre-half, Andreas Jakobsson was sold to Southampton. Agger wasn't afraid and after being voted Brøndby's best player three games in a row soon after his emergence he was established in the first team at only 19 years of age.

Former Liverpool great Jan Mølby is a co-commentator for Danish TV and has seen Agger quite often in action and LFChistory met up with him recently for a quick chat and asked him about his opinion on one of Denmark's most promising players.

"Daniel Agger is a good player in his twenties. He has only played first class football in Denmark for twelve months. He’s a good talent and I rate him. He plays in the Danish football league, but can he play at a higher level? Well, he plays for Denmark and it’s not a problem.

He’s very calm, left-footed, good in the air. He’s not the quickest but a good reader of the game. The problem is the fun has gone out of it because he’s very expensive already."

So Mølby rates Agger and by this description he looks similar to the man he might eventually replace at Liverpool, Sami Hyypia. The price tag is quite high and could be forced down. If Liverpool intend to buy him in January he will not be very match fit as he suffered ligament damage on 12th of September in training and has only recently started light training and hopes to return to match action in December.

We can also assure our readers that in not too distant future we will have a detailed interview with the great Jan Mølby on LFChistory.net about his Liverpool career. He is one of the funniest people I ever had the pleasure to interview. A true legend on and off the field!
