George Gillett is looking forward to meeting with Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez on Sunday.

Gillett and co-owner Tom Hicks have flown in from America ahead of Liverpool's clash with Arsenal at Anfield.

Following the game The Reds' new owners will discuss the club's plans with Benitez, and Gillett is keen to hear what the Spaniard has to say.

"We're more interested in what he has to say, we've got to know him a little bit but frankly we need to get to know him better," Gillett told Sky Sports 1.

"It will probably be a lot social and then hearing some of the things that he has in mind.

"I don't think that we come with any plan other than to support him in winning.

Asked what they want to achieve at Liverpool, Gillett said: "Hopefully the continuation of the extraordinary tradition and success that the club has had in the past and perhaps we can add a bit of lustre."

Meanwhile, Gillett has explained one of the major reasons that attracted the American pair to Liverpool was the club's supporters.

"The fans of Liverpool are the most amazing, perhaps in anywhere in sports in the world," he added.

Apparement gillett a écarté un partage de stadium.

Apparament la reunion s'est bien passée.Il a reaffirmé ne pas vouloir partager le stade avec les toffees.
Et bonne nouvelle le stade devrait etre plus grand que ce qui etait prevu jusqu'a lors.
Les travaux devraient comencer cet été.

j'ai vu un lien BBC après le match de samedi; Hicks disait effectivement qu'il n'était pas question de partage de stade et, très intéressant, qu'ils s'attacheraient particulièrement à faire en sorte que le nouveau stade ait une ambiance égale à Anfield.

Ce qui est bien c'est qu'ils ont conscience que c'est un moment dans l'histoire du club et que les décisions concernant le nouveau stade sont primordiales ! vaut mieux faire un stade parfait et tres grand en capacité vu qu'il sera utilisé au moins pour 50 ans ou plus !!!

Les rumeurs parlent d'un investissement cet été de 40 millions de £ au mercato de cet été soit environ 65 millions d'euros en transferts.Les contrats des joueurs clés tels que Stevie Carra ou Xabi Alonso vont etre revus à la hausse et les travaux pour la construction du stade vont commencer tres bientot.

Liverpool's new owners are ready to match Chelski's excesses in the transfer market after handing manager Rafa Benitez a £40m summer kitty.


The unprecedented sum was agreed upon when Benitez met George Gillett and Tom Hicks at the weekend. It is understood that the two Americans have assured Benitez that he can spend the money on as many players of his choosing.


"We were talking about ideas for the future and it was good," the Spaniard told reporters ahead of tonight's Champions League tie against PSV Eindhoven. "It was very positive and, for me, the future of the club is brilliant. They [Gillett and Hicks] said that we will go in the right direction."


Since his arrival at Anfield, the most Benitez has spent in a calendar year is approximately £20m. Rather than continue his policy of buying in bulk, this summer's kitty is set to be spent on high-profile players from the top of the end of the market. Sevilla's Daniel Alves, Barcelona's unsettled striker Samuel Eto'o and Valencia's David Villa are bound to be in Benitez's thoughts.


As well as bankrolling their manager's transfer plans, the two Americans have also sanctioned a series of salary renegotiations in addition to pushing forward the construction of the club's new stadium.
