The January transfer window is nearly upon us and already the rumour mill is grinding out the usual chestnuts.
More worrying than the usual rumours of who is coming and who is leaving Melwood is the mantra that is currently being repeated
by our players every time they seem to give an interview. it goes along the lines of
“Obviously we need players. If we can bring quality players it should be really positive for us, but I think the situation is really difficult because I think we don’t have money to bring in the best players.
and these are the exact words of Fernando Torres, but it could just as easily have been Gerrard ,Carragher, Lucas or any other first team player. They all seem to be saying the same thing at the moment.
Rafa needs to have a word with his players because this is tantamount to saying "I don't believe the players we have are good enough to get us out of this mess"
Not what we want to be hearing right now. We have one of the largest, highest paid and most expensively assembled squads in the Prem!
Now if these players can come out and publicly say we need new players as the ones we have are not good enough? They should be in my opinion fined and fined heavily.
We need everyone at the club to be reading off the same page at the moment and that page should be written by our manager and drilled into our players by his very large team of assistants. And it should go along the lines of " Every Liverpool player who pulls on that shirt and crosses the white line for 90 minutes should soak that shirt in blood and fight for the cause"
If Rafa decides to set an example of weakness and allow this type of statement to be repeated by squad members with no reaction from the management team then he is not only signing his death warrant but that of the club as well.
Yes it would be nice to have endless funds to continue to squander Rafa but it ain't going to happen so get real and start managing the players you bought. And by managing I mean stop players making this type of comment in public.
