Frustrated Cisse hints at Anfield departureOct 5 2005

DJIBRIL CISSE has hinted he could leave Liverpool in the New Year if he remains a bit-part player at Anfield.

The £14million striker again found himself on the sidelines for most of Sunday's Premiership clash with Chelsea, making only a late substitute appearance as the European Champions crumbled to a 4-1 defeat.
Cisse has begun just one of Liverpool's last five games as manager Rafael Benitez utilises the option of Peter Crouch as a lone striker.
While the 24-year-old has started in only seven of his 15 appearances for Liverpool this season - often not in his preferred role up front - he has still neeted seven goals, admittedly four of which have come as substitute.
And Cisse, currently preparing for France's World Cup qualifier against Switzerland this weekend, has warned that while he understands Benitez's current tactics, he will not wait indefinitely for an extended run in the side.
"It's fair to say I've had a very good start to the season in terms of scoring goals," said Cisse. "It is frustrating to not be always in the starting line-up, but the coach makes his choices.
"I haven't had any talks with Benitez about that, he hasn't given me any explanations, but I have a normal relationship with him. I accept his choices, we will see later what could happen. But I am patient."
Cisse added: "Obviously, I won't spend the whole season on the bench, but we are just at the start of the competition. It is a period for experimentation. The coach is trying a lot of things, so I have no reason for being worried.
"I am waiting, hoping it won't last too long. But if the situation does not improve for me, perhaps I will have more words in December."
Liverpool were considering selling Cisse during the summer to fund a possible move for Michael Owen, but ultimately turned down an £8m bid from Tottenham Hotspur. Marseille, Paris St Germain and Lyon were also linked with the striker.
Meanwhile, Benitez has earned praise from the Australian national team for his treatment of Harry Kewell.
The Anfield manager has allowed the midfielder to take part in his country's training camp in Holland, despite him not having played a game for Liverpool this season.

And Kewell could even make a brief substitute appearance in Australia's friendly against Jamaica at Craven Cottage this weekend.
"Benitez has been absolutely brilliant," said Australia assistant coach Graham Arnold. "He knows the predicament we are in and he released Harry Kewell early because he knows Harry will receive round-the-clock rehabilitation in Holland.
"Harry is champing at the bit and I would love to see him on the field. It's a friendly so we can make up to six substitutions but I think it would be crazy to start him.
"He could get a few minutes at the back end of the game - that's what we are aiming for. He's working very hard and his fitness has improved enormously. He has a huge smile on his face."
