Reds V Chelski Empty
PostSubject: Reds V Chelski   Reds V Chelski EmptyTue 27 Sep 2005 - 10:45

I am starting to get excited already about this one. We have had a fair start to the season without setting the world alight and Chelski come to Anfield for a re-match of last years semi-final. Seven wins out of seven for the Blues and looking for revenge. After our incredible triumph in Istanbul last season our CL story which could have been scripted in Hollywood continues.

What were the odds we would draw Chelski in our group? Well we have and I am sure Raffa has something up his sleeve to try and outfox Mourhino.

Having been at Anfield for the Semi last season I can without reservation state I had never previously witnessed an atmosphere quite like it. I seem to recall Ontour was their for his first match at Anfield I can't imagine what it must have been like for him. I do not think the atmosphere will be as white hot on Wednesday for several reasons. The main being that whatever the result on Wednseday we can still both qualify for the knockout stages.
Also the fact that it is not the Semi-final second leg! I do believe though that our 12th man the Anfield crowd will be making themselves heard and get right behind our team. Nobody is even talking about the Prem match on Sunday!

So, to the match. I think if we can nullify Makalele which will be no easy task this is where the game will be won. I believe Crouch will cause the Blues defence serious problems but just who Raffa is going to play alongside him even if he plays him we will just have to wait and see. I believe we have not had a great deal off luck this season so maybe we have been saving it up fot this one. if we can get 3 points from this one we are all but guaranteed a place in the next round.

I have no idea who Raffa will start with, Crouch,Cisse ,Morienetes, Pongolle who knows but I am not going to make any predicitions here as I don't want to bring any bad luck on us. I think that for me over the last 5 games we have played them. with the exception of the prem match at Stamford Bridge last season when we were 2nd best. The only difference between us has been who had the luck and who didn't so if lady luck shines on us tomorrow?????

Some interesting response here but I don't believe Raffa will send out his team with any other idea than to play we did at home in the CL last year. Then combine this with the fact that Chelsea will probably play as they did away from home in the CL last year. basically you have 2 counter attacking sides who are very solid in defence. I think Chelsea will try to keep it as tight as possible for at least the first 20 minutes and hope they give our supporters nothing to cheer. If they can silence the fans then they will try to take advantage of any opportunities.

I think to try and go out and attack Chelsea gung ho from the start would be doing exactly what they want. We need to keep the ball and search for the key to unlock their defence. Crouch if he plays will find it tough to win many high balls against the 2 Chelsea centre backs.

As I said above for me it will all rest on a little bit of luck going with us or against us. I don't believe any of the hype being put out by Mourhino and his players about revenge. There are 3 CL points at stake here and I think Chelsea would be happy to go away with one of them.

True Redman but this will only be an effect of the result it will not make a difference as to how the match will be played.

I think that we have a good chance of beating Chelsea if we play how we have been, consistent steady and with a more steady defence. I also personally feel a lot more comfortable with this seasons Goalkeeper!

Does anyone know which French TV channel the match will be shown on please? Smile
