Just a few words about the signing of Miereles as some fans seem to think he has been signed to replace Mascherano. This is not the case he is a completely different type of
player.
This guy is in effect a replacment for Aquilani who was signed to replace Alonso. So, he would more accurately be described as Alonso' replacement and will more than likely play alongside
Poulsen who is Mascherano' replacement.
So we are starting to see the shape of the side under Roy take form. I would expect Roy' strongest 11 to look something like.

Gerrard Torres
Although I have lined them up as 4-4-2 they may not always line up this way as with Gerrard or Cole playing in a free roving role behind Torres there is quite a few different options available.
