Joe Hewitt fired the only goal of the game as Liverpool marked their first match in front of the Kop with a 1-0 victory against Stoke City in 1906.
The Chester-born forward struck midway through the first-half to get the Reds off to an opening day victory on what was a searing hot afternoon.
It was the perfect start for the reigning title winners who now had a stand worthy of champions, although it would not be christened the Kop until a later date.
Elsewhere on this day in LFC history we played our first ever match when we beat Rotherham Town 7-1 in a friendly at Anfield in 1892.
