| Le 12 octobre 1968, Liverpool bat Man Utd, champions d'Europe en titre, 2-0 avec des buts de Ian St John et Alun Evans. | Citation: | Ian St John and Alun Evans were the heroes as Bill Shankly's Liverpool put the European Champions to the sword.
Manchester United had arrived at Anfield having struggled to recapture the form that had seen them conquer the continent in May and the Reds were in no mood to grant them any mercy. Ian St John got the opening goal on 14 minutes but despite the home side's dominance they did not ensure victory until eight minutes from time, when Britain's most expensive teenager, Alun Evans, got his fourth goal in six matches since arriving from Wolves. It was another impressive home performance from Liverpool in a season when they would just miss out on the title, finishing in second place in Division One. http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N157252071012-0904.htm
