DIC : Episode II ?

Fil ouvert par un insider bien connu des habitués de RAWK : ceux que ça intéressent feront l'effort de lire le premier post, et s'ils ont le temps et l'envie, liront le fil !

Croisons les doigts !

"Hope this cheers a few people up...

The Americans are back talking to DIC, DIC are in the process of reapproaching us with an increase to their previous offer that brings it alot more closer to what the yanks want.

Both Hicks and Gillett will listen to the offer and are now willing to sell as they realise they are now at a dead end and can take the club no further.

This is the first time Hicks has considered selling, and he has informed DIC of his desire providing the offer meets his needs.

This was all going on back end of last week by the way."

Un autre post du même fil, avec une bonne synthèse :

So where does this leave us?

Moving on to a bit more conjecture...

Something has happened to put the stadium scheme on hold: it may be resurrected in a year or two, but it it may not. Whether this decision was related to the alleged withdrawal of funds for the Barry transfer is an interesting question, but it would seem that there was a change in the outlook for the club's finances at around that time.

The new stadium is the key to the club's finances, both on the field and off the field. Without that revenue the sums don't work. And with the start date pushed back, the funding of the club on its current basis becomes much more important - and at the moment it's unsustainable.

The strength of the Dollar against the Pound is an interesting problem and provides one of two time-critical problems for the Americans: if they're going to sell up, it has to be sooner rather than later in order to maximise their profit.

The second time-critical problem comes from the refinancing that needs to be done in January: that's going to be difficult and is going to cost a lot upfront, not to mention the likely need to find more collateral. In simple terms, just keeping hold of LFC after January is going to be very expensive.

The conclusion from this is that the club is not going to work financially in the medium-term, while in the short-term the re-financing may be very difficult. As Hicks and Gillett have relied on "leverage finance" rather than equity, it may not be a storm that they can ride out without incurring massive personal losses which have to be offset against future potential profits - that may never be delivered.

The option of selling up now can never have looked so attractive.
